Decatur City Council votes to end city’s mask mandate
Decatur councilmembers have voted to lift a local mask mandate.

The Decatur City Council voted on Wednesday to end the city’s mask mandate Apr. 9.
Councilman Billy Jackson was the only member to vote against the mandate being lifted.
Prior to voting at the special session, Councilman Carlton McMasters spoke about his experience with the coronavirus. He said he ll continue to wear his mask until he feels safe.
McMasters said that s the right thing to do as a citizen. The councilman also mentioned the infection rate in Texas, since the state lifted the mask mandate. He said numbers were the lowest Texas had seen in 10 months.

DECATUR, Ala. (WAFF) - Hunter Pepperâs fellow Councilman, Billy Jackson, is calling for Pepper to step down.
âMr. Jackson I have considered as a mentor, but me and Mr. Jackson have not always agreed on everything clearly. Mr. Jackson did call for my resignation and I will tell you I will not be resigning my seat,â Pepper said.
