Whisky has been distilled on the island since the early 1300s and the region’s whiskies are characterised by unique peat and smoke aromas. Getting to Islay takes time, but like it’s whisky, is worth the effort. The nautical history of the island and the traditional journey there by sea helped influence the design. A bespoke boat marque combined with bold typography hint at the heritage of the island and traditional hand-painted sign writing on the keel of the boats.

Hunter Laing & Co. Adds New Islay Single Malts To Its Line Up
Independent Scotch whisky bottler Hunter Laing & Co. late last year introduced two new bottlings to its Scarabus Islay Single Malt Whisky range.
Scarabus, meaning ‘rocky place’ in Nordic, is named after what’s described as a “mystical area of Islay.” The two new bottlings that fall under this name, Scarabus 10 Year Old (46% ABV) and Scarabus Batch Strength (57% ABV), are set to join Scarabus Specially Selected, a single malt Scotch whisky.

Hunter Laing & Co. unveils new series to showcase Port Ellen whiskies Scotch whisky company Hunter Laing & Co. has introduced a bottling series to showcase liquids from the former Islay distillery Port Ellen. The Eidolon bottling series will feature three expressions from Port Ellen which were distilled in 1983, shortly before the distillery closed, with fewer than 650 bottles available to purchase. The series first release, a 36-year-old whisky, has been bottled at cask strength of 53.5% ABV without artificial colouring or chill filtration. It will be available at specially selected whisky stores worldwide and on the Ardnahoe Distillery website. Family-owned distiller, blender and bottler Hunter Laing & Co. has a reputation for its rare aged whiskies, and founder Stewart Laing s father was a fan of Port Ellen Distillery while it was in operation.
