NORTH HAVEN, CT The North Haven Fire Department will receive more than $77,000 in federal coronavirus relief funds, U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro announced this week.
The funds, part of the COVID-19 Supplemental Program included in the CARES Act coronavirus relief package, will be used to purchase supplies to protect North Haven firefighters from exposure to the virus, according to DeLauro. Our firefighters have been asked to continue their lifesaving work with the increased risk of exposing themselves and their loved ones to COVID-19, said DeLauro, chair of the House Appropriations Committee and representative of Connecticut s 3rd District. The federal government told Colorado that a second dose was being held in reserve, but that information wasn t accurate, Gov. Jared Polis said during a virtual news conference Friday.
Colorado expected to receive 210,000 doses of the vaccine from the national reserve next week, but our state is now set to receive only 79,000 doses.
Coloradans ages 70 and older will be hardest hit by the new amount.

INDIO, CA A murder charge was filed Friday against a 38-year-old man accused of shooting a motorist found inside a crashed vehicle in Indio.
Miguel Mejia Cazarez of Indio was arrested Wednesday, a day after allegedly gunning down 39-year-old Jose Luis Villegas III of Mecca.
Along with the murder count, Cazarez is charged with misdemeanor hit-and-run and faces a sentence-enhancing allegation of discharging a firearm causing great bodily injury.

A recent report by Porch found that New York has the largest homeless population in the country. According to the report, the homelessness rate across the country fell between 2007 and 2019 but has begun to increase amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The study found that in New York, there are 92,091 homeless people, including 49,978 who are among families with children.
