FLINT, MI After a second extensive investigation into the Flint water crisis, Attorney General Dana Nessel with Solicitor General Fadwa Hammoud and Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy on Thursday announced criminal charges against former Gov. Rick Snyder and eight other former officials in state and city government.
“This case has nothing whatsoever to do with partisanship,” Worthy said. “This case is about justice, truth, accountability, poisoned children, lost lives and shattered families that are still not whole, and simply giving a damn about all of humanity.”

(WXYZ) â Former Michigan Governor Rick Snyder is facing two counts of willful neglect of duty following an investigation into the Flint water crisis.
Related:
Snyder is the first Michigan governor charged with a crime in office in the state s history.
Back in 2014, Snyder and his team ordered Flint to switch off Detroit water to the Flint River to save money. Residents water supply became more corrosive and caused lead poisoning and later, an outbreak of legionnaires disease, killing several people.
Nick Lyon pleaded not guilty during an appearance in court. Moments later, his old boss, former Gov. Rick Snyder, also pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges of willful neglect of duty.
What are the charges?
Snyder and eight other former officials involved in the Flint water crisis were charged and arraigned this week:
Former state health director
Nick Lyon was charged with nine felony counts of involuntary manslaughter and one count of willful neglect of duty. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Dr. Eden Wells was charged with nine felony counts of involuntary manslaughter, a misdemeanor count of willful neglect of duty, and two felony counts of misconduct in office.
Current state health department employee
Nancy Peeler was charged with two felony counts of misconduct in office and one misdemeanor count willful neglect of duty.
Ray Gray.
Regarding a possible commutation of Gray’s life sentence, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy tells Channel 4, “I would be fully on board with that.” If you’re a regular reader of this rag, you know the heartrending tale of Ray Gray, the Michigan man stuck behind bars for nearly 50 years for a crime he insists he did not commit. In the early 1970s on the west side of Detroit, Gray was a budding young artist and a four-time Golden Gloves boxing champ on the precipice of turning pro. His future, it seemed, was bright. But then, he and his supporters say, he was wrongfully convicted of murder. For nearly five decades, Gray has maintained his innocence in the 1973 shooting death of Reuben Bryant.
