FLINT, MI Flint water prosecutors improperly released thousands of confidential documents related to mediation over the city of Detroit’s 2013 bankruptcy, attorneys for former Gov. Rick Snyder say.
In a motion filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Detroit on Wednesday, May 12, attorneys from Warner Norcross and Judd asked for an evidentiary hearing and an order holding the Michigan Office of Attorney General and the individuals responsible for “this improper release of information in contempt of the Bankruptcy Court’s mediation and confidentiality orders.”

GROSSE POINTE PARK Grosse Pointe Park officials could be breaking new ground in Michigan.
In response to one resident’s decision in February to display a Ku Klux Klan flag in a side window of his home, where it directly faced the home of a Black neighbor, Grosse Pointe Park City Councilwoman Darci McConnell asked if the city could look into possibly enacting a new ethnic intimidation ordinance to address actions like this in the future. During a May 10 Park City Council meeting by Zoom, McConnell asked if the matter could be referred to the city’s Ordinance Review Committee and City Attorney Thomas “Jake” Howlett for further study.
The stark video footage of George Floyd s death, and its viral dissemination across news outlets and social media platforms, galvanized the nation on an entirely different level, sparking demonstrations in which leaders as diverse as the Rev. Al Sharpton and U.S. Sen. Mitt Romney expressed their common revulsion at Chauvin s brutality.
In Detroit, a new generation of activists took to the streets, demanding a comprehensive re-examination of policing in America s largest majority Black city. The protesters called out what they say is institutional racism and implicit bias in the criminal justice system, and demanded that lawmakers divert taxpayer dollars from military-grade armaments and surveillance technology to more holistic public safety strategies.
