A new in-patient facility, which was planned as an orthopaedic care complex, will now accommodate patients with COVID-19 at the Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore.
The hospital has designated the newly-modified Paul Brand Block for admission and treatment of patients with COVID-19. There are three wards with a total of 105 beds in this block.

The Election Expenditure Observer in Katpadi seized more than ₹18 lakh from a group of people suspected to be from the ruling AIADMK in Katpadi early on Friday. Eight persons have been detained by the police in connection with the case.
According to sources Amit Kadam, the election expenditure observer, was on night rounds on Thursday. He spotted a group of men standing on the road and questioned them. Upon checking their belongings, the officials found ₹15,000 in one man’s bag. The man told the officials that it was his salary. However, when Mr. Kadam was questioning him, the others fled the spot and hid in a lodge.

The district administration in Vellore has come forward to provide housing and other facilities to an impoverished woman and her elderly mother, whose plight was highlighted in a video circulated by a voluntary organisation.
In the video, the impoverished woman, in her mid-forties, from Mel Kavanur village in Vellore district, sought help for her day-to-day survival.
The video shot by Gopala Rajendran, Vellore district secretary, The Tamil Nadu Association for the Rights of All Types of Differently Abled and Caregivers (TARATDAC), shows Kalaivani, stating that she was initially keeping well but suffered from an ailment and went to a hospital for treatment.
