Mysterious Potatoes Appearing at Mass Library | MIX 93-1 | The Morning Show with Chris Zito & Suzanne Lewis

By Zito Jan 22, 2021 Spuds that keep mysteriously showing up on the lawn of a Massachusetts library have people scratching their heads. Even Late Show host Stephen Colbert is concerned. During his Wednesday night episode Cobert gave a shoutout to the Wayland Free Public Library, where staff members have been finding what they described as “perfectly lovely baked russets” on the building’s front lawn for the past week. Potatoes in front of the library in Wayland, Mass? We could see Hatfield maybe, but Wayland? Weird. The library s original FB post is below as well as Cobert s take. You ll find the story about 5:30 in.

English for Speakers of Other Languages tutors needed

English for Speakers of Other Languages tutors needed Community Content The Friends of the Wayland Library recently announced it is accepting applications for English for Speakers of Other Languages tutors. The tutor training class this winter/spring will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 25, Mar. 4, 11, 18 and 25 via Zoom.  Volunteers are trained to become tutors and are matched with learners for one-to-one tutoring. The tutor training has two main functions: to give the tutor practical skills and broadly applicable techniques, and to enhance the tutor’s understanding of the needs of adult learners. Prior to COVID-19, the tutor typically met with the learner once a week for an hour or so, at a mutually convenient location, often at the Wayland Library. Currently, tutors and learners are working remotely, using Zoom, Skype, Facetime or phone and email. Extra mentoring is offered, to help tutors find resources online.
