EDD: Job Training Funds Support 104 Trainees, 7 Interns EDD News: SANTA FE The Job Training Incentive Program (JTIP) Board announced this month’s recipients of training funds totaling more than $1.7 million at the May 14 meeting. Thirteen companies applied in order to hire for new well-paying positions, and another will receive a Step-Up Grant to train incumbent employees. JTIP, a program of the New Mexico Economic Development Department, covers a portion of trainee wages (50-75% depending on location) for up to 6 months. Jobs with entry wages that align with the High Wage Job Tax Credit are eligible for an additional 5% and companies that hire trainees who have graduated within the past twelve months from a NM institution of higher education or who are U.S. Veterans may be eligible for an additional 5% reimbursement. Expenses are reimbursed after training is completed.

Courtesy/McClure Publications EDD News: LAS CRUCES   New Mexico Economic Development (EDD) Cabinet Secretary Alicia J. Keyes has announced that Saputo Dairy USA, one of the largest cheese and dairy foods producers in the United States, has been awarded state economic assistance to expand its Las Cruces manufacturing operation and add 150 employees,  As part of the expansion, Saputo Dairy USA is planning to invest up to $30 million in its existing facility at the Las Cruces Innovation and Industrial Park.

NM Economic Development awards job training grants for 15 companies

Among those approved is Compass Made Inc. in Deming. This tranche of companies approved at the April JTIP board meeting included three that have never applied for JTIP funding before, DeeDee’s Finest Beef Jerky in Española and Pronto Signs and Solstar Space Company in Santa Fe. Additionally, of the 15 awarded companies, six of them have received JTIP funding only once before. “JTIP is a proven tool to help businesses create jobs and keep them in New Mexico,” Keyes said. “This month’s recipients are a great example of how we are working to support companies of all sizes and in every corner of the state.”
