WHITLEY COUNTY â A Williamsburg man accused of killing his girlfriend and storing her body in a trash can has had a future pretrial conference date scheduled in Whitley County Circuit Court.
John Meadows, 58, is scheduled to reappear in court on July 19. Meadows was arraigned and pleaded not guilty in April after he was indicted earlier that month on one count murder and tampering with physical evidence.
Meadows is accused of killing Donna G. Lay who was reported missing on January 27. She was last seen on January 7.
After interviewing Meadows multiple times during their investigation into Layâs whereabouts, the Williamsburg Police Department was able to obtain a warrant to search the apartment shared by the two located on South 10th Street in Williamsburg.

WHITLEY COUNTY â A Williamsburg man accused of sending a nude photo of himself to a teenager in 2018 is back in jail after breaking conditions of his bond.
Robin Gobel, 42, will have a contempt hearing on June 24 after he was ordered to refrain from social media of any kind as part of his bond. However, court records show that following a February pretrial conference, Gobel messaged the brother of the victim on Facebook.
Court documents state that Gobel had been using a profile under a different name, but that the name was a common alias used by Gobel and that the birthday on the profile was the same as his.

WHITLEY COUNTY - A status hearing was held Thursday morning in Whitley County Circuit Court for a man accused of killing his girlfriend in 2019.
Nicholas M. Rucker, 40, was not virtually present for the brief status hearing held Thursday morning, but his attorney, Kim Green was. So too was Commonwealth Attorney Ronnie Bowling who explained to Judge Paul Winchester that the two sides were meeting after the defense had filed a motion to compel outstanding evidence possessed by the Commonwealth.
âThe Commonwealth filed a notice of compliance, and we received in the mail this week, the discovery,â said Green, who also noted that her team had received most of what they asked for, but that she had not had time to go through it.
