Volkswagen rolls out new Active trim for multiple models
Volkswagen has introduced a new high-value trim level for a variety of its current models.
Called Active, it sits above existing Match, SE, Design or Life equipment lines – depending on the model – and applies to the Polo, T-Cross, T-Roc, T-Roc Cabriolet, Golf and Tiguan.
The new trim level varies in what it brings to each model, but all cars – apart from the T-Cross – now benefit from a new ‘Galway’ alloy wheel in sizes ranging from 15- to 18 inches. Bespoke Active badging is also applied to the b-pillar – or side fender for the T-Roc Cabriolet – while the door sills get Active badges too.

Volkswagen has opened the order books for its new ID.4 electric SUV. Well, in Europe and other EV-ready markets, at least. Available in Life, Family, and Max specifications, the new
electric vehicle (EV) has a starting price of £41 570, which equates to around R831 000 on the current exchange rate, excluding the various taxes and costs.
According to Volkswagen, the ID.4 Life has a maximum electric range of up to 520km, with the Family and Max variants boasting 512km and 505km, respectively. Whichever model you opt for, the 500km range should curb any range anxiety you might experience.
All three specifications can regain up to 320km of range from a 125kW rapid charger in 30 minutes, while a 7.2kW home charger takes around 11 hours to take the ID.4 from 0-100%. Charging to 80% from a DC, CCS charge point takes 38min.

As the flagship of the current ID.4 range, the Max is equipped with a larger 12-inch infotainment screen, augmented reality head-up display, adaptive DCC dampers and a full suite of driver assistance systems, including Lane assist and Travel Assist. It also has sports seats with electric adjustment, memory and massage functions.
Joe Laurence, ID. family product manager at Volkswagen UK, said: “The ID.4 has officially arrived in series form with a punchy powertrain, big battery and equipment package that leaves little to be desired.
“The fact that we’re launching this just a few months after we shook up the affordable electric vehicle market with the ID.3 is testament to rapid growth in the BEV market. There’s more to come, too – entry-level powertrains, batteries and specifications will arrive in the coming weeks, which will see the ID.4 entry price fall to less than £32,000 with the new government grant.
