The ID.4 GTX gets a few sporty additions to differentiate it from the standard car, and it also sits 15mm lower too.
Volkswagen has revealed its first fully electric high-performance model, the ID.4 GTX, with a “digital reveal” held at the Berlin Tempelhof Airport in Germany. The ID.4 GTX is the first model based on Volkswagen’s MEB modular electric platform to feature dual-motors and all-wheel drive and will top the ID.4 electric SUV range. The ID.4 GTX’s dual motors – one on the front axle, one on the rear axle – deliver a maximum electrical output of 220kW and work together as an electric all-wheel drive system, a first for the ID. family, but far from uncommon in EVs.
Fancy an all-electric station wagon but also really want a Porsche? Guess what. Finally, a high-performance, fully electric station wagon! The Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo is coming, albeit without the big daddy Turbo S model. As you might expect, it adds storage space and jacks the ride up a bit for more off-roadability. Porsche is also set to introduce a less expensive base model of the sedan, simply called Taycan. It’s the first rear-wheel drive one though, so it should be good fun, despite being lower on power than the other models.
Cross Turismo due here: Q4 2021 (priced from $194,900). Taycan base model due here: Q2 2021 ($173,900).

Those side-exit exhaust pipes are almost as cool as under-the-door side pipes. Almost. Two versions are available over the ditch, the base W580 and the upspecced 580S, which adds branded tips, LED fog lights, a styling bar, more decals, Vienna leather interior seats with Walkinshaw head restraint branding and a custom twin exhaust system with side pipes at the rear wheels and branded tips. Despite the extra kit, the 3.0-litre turbodiesel V6 is untouched, making the same 200kW/580Nm (on overboost) as other 580 Amarok models. That’s understandable as tweaking the engine would have added more development time to the truck and the base powerplant is still well up on competitors like the Ranger Raptor, which makes 157kW/500Nm.
