Convicted war criminal Delwar Hossain Sayedee has filed a revision petition with the High Court challenging the lower court order that framed charges against him in a case filed for embezzling Tk 1.27 crore from Islamic Foundation s Zakat Fund.
Sayedee, a Jamaat-e-Islami leader, submitted the revision petition through his lawyer Md Muzahedul Islam Shahin yesterday (Sunday) seeking stay on the trial proceedings of the case against him.
Citing the petition, lawyer Muzahedul Islam told The Daily Star today that there is no evidence against Sayedee of transacting and embezzling any money from Islamic Foundation s Zakat Fund and there was no mention of his name in the first information report and charge sheet of the case.

A man was killed after a truck hit his motorcycle in Dhaka s Shyamoli area last night.
The deceased was identified as Ejdadul Haque Ejaj (40), from Cumilla.
A speeding truck hit the motorcycle near Shyamoli footbridge around 11:00pm, leaving Ejaj critically injured.
He was first rushed to the nearby Shaheed Suhrawardy Medial College Hospital but later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, Jane Alam Munshi, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station, said.
The OC said the truck also hit an auto-rickshaw and two rickshaws, leaving several injured whose identity could not be known immediately.

A Dhaka court today framed charges against Jamaat-e-Islami leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee and five others in a case filed for embezzlement of Tk 1.27 crore from Islamic Foundation s Zakat Fund.
Sayedee, now in jail, and four others, who are on bail at present, pleaded not guilty and demanded justice after Judge Sayeda Hosneara of the Special Judge s Court of Dhaka read out the charges to them at the makeshift court at Alia Madrasa in Bakshibazar, Old Dhaka.
The other accused are: Mohammad Lutful Haque, former director of Islamic Foundation; Mia Mohammad Yunus, chief secretary of Bandhujan Parishad; Tofazzal Hossain, former president of Islamic Social Welfare Center; and Md Abdul Haq, assistant director of Islamic Foundation s Mosque Council.

A Dhaka court today deferred the charge framing hearing of a case filed against Jamaat-e-Islami leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee and five others on charges of embezzling Tk 1.27 crore from Islamic Foundation s Zakat Fund to January 11.
Judge Sayeda Hosneara, of the Special Judge s Court-1 Dhaka, passed the order after the defence sought time.
In the petition, the defence mentioned that they were yet to get some papers which were necessary for the hearing.
ACC Public Prosecutor Mosharraf Hossain Kajol told the court that the case was filed against the accused 10 years ago. The petition was filed to delay the trial proceedings, he said.
