Drinking water issue in SALU resolved

SUKKUR: The longstanding problem of provision of fresh drinking water has been resolved with the generous support of district government Khairpur as a water tank of Rs4.6 million was built at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur. Speaking on the occasion, the vice-chancellor, SALU, Khairpur, Prof Dr Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, commended the generous support of the district government Khairpur. He remarked that the scheme would be operational soon and would meet an essential need.
He said prior to this project, the residents of the campus, offices and academic blocks had been facing severe scarcity of drinking water, adding that almost 33-year-old issue had now been resolved.
100 acres of SALU land evacuated

SUKKUR: The revenue department, Khairpur, on Wednesday retrieved 100 acres of land of Shah Abdul Latif University, (SALU), Khairpur. The vice-chancellor, SALU, Prof Dr Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, had taken notice of illegal occupation of 100 acres of university’s land by the land mafia at Shadi Shaheed, and requested the deputy commissioner, Khairpur, to take action and retrieve SALU’s land. Reports said the revenue department, along with the local police and anti-encroachment force, had finally evacuated the university’s land.
SALU holds moot on ‘Kashmir Day’

SUKKUR: A seminar on “Kashmir: Right to Self Determination and Regional Peace”, was held at the Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, by the Department of Political Science in accordance with the ‘Kashmir Day’ celebrations.
Speaking to the participants of the seminar, vice-chancellor SALU, Prof Dr Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, said the right of self determination of Kashmiri people is a legitimate right and India could not deny it. Prof Ibupoto remarked that the Government of Pakistan has presented the case at international forums assertively and effectively to let the world be aware of the dirty face of India. The Indian aggression is a violation of human rights and fundamental right to freedom. He appreciated the endeavor of the chairman Department of Political Science and Dean Faculty of Social Sciences for organising the seminar to apprise the audience about the Kashmir issue.
A One-Day Seminar on Drip Irrigation System was held at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur organized by the Department of Economics in collaboration with Sindh Irrigated Agriculture Productivity Enhancement Project. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto presided over the seminar. Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said that Pakistan is a premier agriculture country and having agrarian economy but we are adopting the traditional mode of instruments in agriculture sector. It is high time that we must adopt modern and latest technology in order to achieve the high yield and save the water because we are facing immense water scarcity as result, we have threat of food security. Dr. Ibupoto announced that the Department of Economics will start short courses, diploma courses and long term courses on agriculture economy while other Departments will also initiate the same path. Dr. Ibupoto said we are striving to revive our academic and research activities.
