Two Missouri Residents Killed In Crash Near Dayton – Sheridan Media

Hydroplaning as a result of wet road conditions, poor tire tread and speed are being investigated as contributing factors in a crash on US Highway 14 southwest of Dayton, that resulted in the deaths of two Missouri motorcyclists. The Wyoming Highway Patrol says just after 4pm this past Saturday (July 3rd), a 2007 Ford Crown Vic was traveling west on US 14 in a heavy rainstorm with very poor tire tread.  The Ford driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve to the right and crossed into the eastbound lane colliding with two motorcyclists.  The motorcyclists have been identified as 56-year old Brett Dickerson and 57-year old Robin Dickerson, both from Plattsburg, Missouri.

The Ford was descending a long downhill stretch that ended with a curve to the right and, when the driver attempted to make the right-hand curve, the vehicle was unable to make the corner, crossing the centerline into the path of the two motorcycles, due to poor tread on the tires and the wet road. The Ford struck one of the motorcycles, a 2000 BMW K1200LT,  first on the front driver side, which caused the Ford to rotate counter-clockwise in front of the other motorcycle, a 2016 Indian Scout Sixty ATV.
