Chautauqua County Sheriff James Quattrone is warning the public of a “hoax” involving the pistol permit office.
In a statement Wednesday, the sheriff said, “The Sheriff’s Office Pistol Permit Office has received several complaints today that text messages are being sent to County residents indicating that today is the last day, 12/23 that concealed carry permits (pistol permits) may be requested. This is not the case and there are no plans to disrupt this service to Chautauqua County residents. Anyone receiving a text message similar to this should disregard the text.”
