COVID-19 cases jump to 11 at Kalamazoo County Jail amid vaccination efforts Updated 8:55 PM; Facebook Share KALAMAZOO, MI – There are 11 cases of COVID-19 among those incarcerated at the Kalamazoo County Jail. The 11 positive coronavirus tests came back during a standard quarantine period before new inmates are released into the general population, Sheriff Richard Fuller said. Those people are still in quarantine and are being treated, Fuller said. They have not required hospitalization. For the first year of the pandemic, the jail only had five people test positive for COVID-19, Fuller said. Now, they have charted 11 cases in about two weeks, he said.

Chauvin will be sentenced in eight weeks. He knelt on Floyd’s neck for 9 minutes, 29 seconds, including 3 1/2 minutes after Floyd took his last breath.
