Shell and K-Electric inaugurate an Electric Vehicle Charging Station

Shell Pakistan Limited (SPL) and K-Electric (KE) today inaugurated the first ‘Rapid Charger’ station with a capacity of 50 kWh for Electric Vehicles at the Shell Askari-4 forecourt located at Rashid Minhas Road. This initiative follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between both companies earlier this year; pursuant to which, Shell will establish Electric-Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations at strategic locations in Karachi, and KE, in its capacity as Karachi’s sole power supplier, will ensure enhanced power supply to the agreed locations.
Branded as ‘Shell Recharge’, this innovative facility – the first among others planned in the near future – will contribute to the Federal Government’s commitment for a more sustainable energy future. These sites will also offer a suite of value-added services aimed at enhancing the Shell customers experience.

Though the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is probing the oil crisis of last year, shortage of petrol and jet fuel may once again be looming in the country as stocks have plummeted to the lowest levels. The country has average storage capacity for 73 days.
However, oil marketing companies were maintaining stocks for an average of 15 days as on April 6. Jet fuel is widely used by airlines.
Shell, KE to set up EV charging stations in Karachi

KARACHI: Shell Pakistan Limited (SPL) and K-Electric Limited (KE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop the first three Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations across Karachi and its connecting highways, a statement said on Friday.
The locations selected for installing 50 KWH Rapid chargers are: Shell Defence Filling-Station in Khayaban-e-Bahria, Askari Filling Station in Gulshan Town, and Mardan Filling Station in Gadap Town.
The statement said over the next 3 to 5 years, SPL and KE would explore the opportunity of additional sites and strategically expand the EV charging network.
