Man sentenced to 34 months in prison

SIDNEY – A man was sentenced to almost three years in prison in Shelby County Common Pleas Court on drug trafficking charges.
Judge James F. Stevenson sentenced Jesse Fitzgerald, 38, to 34 months in prison on charges of attempted trafficking in drugs and trafficking in drugs, both of which are fourth degree felonies. He was granted credit for 13 days served in the Shelby County Jail.
As part of a plea deal, a charge of trafficking in drugs, a third degree felony, was amended to attempted trafficking in drugs. Also, charges of aggravated possession of drugs and possessing criminal tools, both of which are fifth degree felonies, were dismissed.

SIDNEY – A teenager from Englewood who reportedly possessed more than $100,000 in cash when he was apprehended by law enforcement was indicted by the Shelby County grand jury.
Chase Spencer Gilliam-Beale, 18, of Englewood, was indicted on charges of failure to comply with an order or signal of an officer, a third degree felony, trafficking in drugs, a third degree felony, trafficking in drugs, a fifth degree felony, and possessing criminal tools, a fifth degree felony.
In fleeing from a law enforcement officer’s signal to stop his vehicle, Chase Spencer Gilliam-Beale reportedly operated his vehicle in a manner that caused a substantial risk of serious physical harm by running stop signs and traveling recklessly at excessive speeds.

Scioto County man sentenced to prison on sexual battery charge

SIDNEY – A Scioto County man was sentenced to five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to sexual battery in Shelby County Common Pleas Court.
Judge James F. Stevenson sentenced Jesse Andrew Hudson, 50, of Otway, to five years in prison on an amended charge of sexual battery, a third degree felony. He was granted credit for 185 days served in jail.
Hudson previously was charged with rape, a first degree felony, but pleaded guilty to the lesser charge Feb. 12. He was accused of engaging in sexual intercourse with a girl younger than 13 years old.
