Ricardo advances hydrogen engine; testing prototype at University of Brighton Ricardo has developed a hydrogen-fueled research engine which could offer a renewable, economic and durable technology solution to accelerate zero-carbon emissions in heavy duty trucks, off-highway machines and marine vessels. Ricardo will be testing the prototype at the engine development facility at the University of Brighton the company’s long-term combustion engine research partner. Drawing on the company’s proven track record in engine development, and hydrogen technology integration, the test program will evaluate the performance, efficiency and emissions of the engine to assess its feasibility as a future multi-cylinder engine which could be taken into production for Ricardo’s global customers.

Ricardo opens digitally enabled Electrified Propulsion Research Center Ricardo formally opened its new Electrified Propulsion Research Center at its Shoreham Technical Center in West Sussex. Designed to support the company’s existing work in powertrain optimization and electrification, the new state-of-the-art research center, which has cost £5.5 million (US$7.7 million)and included a grant of £1.5 million (US$2.1 million) from Coast2Capital Local Enterprise Partnership, will enable the research and development of the next generation of electrified vehicles from component level subsystems to fully integrated powertrains. It will significantly increase the range of services and solutions across all platforms and applications in electric vehicle development available to global customers.

Ricardo to invest £2.5M in hydrogen development and testing facility Ricardo announced an initial investment of £2.5 million to build a hydrogen development and test facility at its Shoreham Technical Centre in the UK. Designed to support the company’s existing work in hydrogen, fuel cells and green alternative fuels, the new facility will deliver state-of-the-art test and development to advance capability in both alternative fuels and electric vehicles. It will significantly increase the range of hydrogen and fuel cell services and solutions which can be delivered to Ricardo’s global customers.
