5 000 Mhangura Residents Share 7 Toilets - NewZimbabwe com

By James Muonwa, Mashonaland West Correspondent A RESIDENTS’ association leader says Mhangura residents were exposed to communicable diseases as raw human excreta was clogging public toilets with sewerage ponds now commonplace in the former copper mining settlement. Mhangura Residents Association secretary, Peter Kadambe says residents also have to endure perennial water shortages. Kadambe alleges dereliction of duty by the Zimbabwe National Water Authority (Zinwa) has resulted in thousands of residents living in squalor. He said residents risk contracting water-borne diseases such as cholera and typhoid due to the unhygienic conditions they are being subjected to by Zinwa, which superintends over both water and sewer reticulation systems.
