Police arrested a 42-year-old Wichita woman after a report of a car hitting a building during a domestic dispute late Saturday night.
Officers were called around 10:50 p.m. to the 1700 block of East 2nd. They found a car had struck a building, and they talked with the driver and her 45-year-old husband. Police said the woman tried to hit her husband with the car several times, threatened him, and then drove into the building. There were no injuries.
The woman was booked into jail for attempted first-degree murder, criminal damage to property and driving under the influence. Information will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for the filing of formal charges.
Police arrest driver after fatal west Wichita crash
Wichita police arrested a 33-year-old man after a fatal accident Monday southwest of the downtown area.
The crash was reported around 4:20 p.m. at Maple and Elizabeth. They found 80-year-old Frankie Baxter pinned inside a vehicle, and after crews got her out she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said Baxter was driving north on Elizabeth and turned to go east on Maple. Her car was then struck from behind by another vehicle that was going east at a high rate of speed. The impact pushed Baxter’s car over a curb and into a tree.
