Having seen him progress massively in his career, the Commissioner felt it was time to give JP something else to think about.
Seeing as he has been able to help others pursue careers in the police, he offered JP the position of Head of the Police Training Programme.
This did mean he would have to move away from Saint Marie and after contemplating the possibility, JP decided it was time to go.
So he, his wife Rosey (Prisca Bakare) and their twin babies packed up and left the beautiful island for a fresh start.
The tenth season of
Death in Paradise came to an end this Thursday (February 18), as the investigation of another demise coincided with big changes for the team.
The latest case saw Emmet Peterson (Wil Johnson) confess to killing his oldest friend, despite the fact he had no motive and couldn t recall doing so. But, as always, there was more to the story, and it all stemmed from a tragic past event.
Meanwhile, DI Neville Parker (Ralf Little) endeared himself to us even more, as his romantic feelings for DS Florence Cassell (Joséphine Jobert) came to a head. Neville was conflicted over whether to maintain their professional relationship or follow his heart.

Ralf Little joined the cast of Death in Paradise in the middle of series nine when his character DI Neville Parker temporarily replaced DI Jack Mooney (played by Ardal O’Hanlon). But when Neville became more accustomed to life on the island, he decided he wanted to stay and Commissioner Selwyn Patterson (Don Warrington) reluctantly agreed to give him the job full-time. But when the cameras stop rolling on the BBC comedy-drama, who is Little’s other half?
Following the short teaser, fans soon took to Twitter to express their excitement. Cannot begin to explain my excitement for the fact both Richard and Camille make an appearance again, tweeted one viewer.
