A wintry mix of snow, ice and rain made for some slick roads in and around the Springfield area Monday.
The conditions forced schools to close in Jacksonville District 117 as well as Salem Lutheran School in Jacksonville.
A winter weather advisory was set to expire for Sangamon, Morgan, Scott and Christian counties at midnight Tuesday. The advisory remains in effect for Cass, Logan and Menard counties through noon Tuesday.
Erin Roberson, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Lincoln said another round of freezing rain developing late Monday and into Tuesday morning could make for a light glaze of ice on road early Tuesday.
