Mother and her baby killed in Sylhet road accident 140 SYLHET, May 16, 2021 (BSS) – A mother and her two years old son were killed and six others injured in a road accident in Satmail Daksin Surma area on Sylhet-Dhaka road today this afternoon. The deceased were identified as Beauty Roy, 25, wife of Gupesh Roy and their two years old son Rupak Roy, residents of Nabiganj upazila under Habiganj district. Locals and police said the accident occurred around 2.00pm when a Sylhet -bound microbus hit a private car in which the mother and her son were travelling. Later, the critically injured mother and her son were rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College and Hospital where on duty doctors declared them dead, officer-in-charge (OC) of Daksin Surma Police Station Monirul Islam said.

A Sylhet-bound bus operated by London Express collided head-on with an ENA Transport bus going to Dhaka at around 6.30 am, he said. Drivers of both buses, the helper of the ENA Transport bus and Imran Khan, a teacher of Sylhet Women’s Medical College, were among the dead. The dead were identified as Sunamganj’s Salman Khan, 28, Rahima Begum, 30, Brahminbaria’s Nurul Amin, 5, Wari’s Sagar Hossain, 19, Osmaninagar’s Manjur Ali, 38, and from Jahangir Hossain, 30, Professor Imran Khan Rumel, 36, of Sylhet Women’s Medical College Hospital and Akhalia’s Shah Kamal, 45.

Driver held over rape attempt in moving bus in Sunamganj The prime accused in a case filed for attempting to rape a college girl in a moving bus at Sujanagar in Dirai upazila of Sunamganj has been arrested. Members of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested Shahid Mia, driver of the bus, from Old Bus Stand area of Sunamganj on Saturday morning. Md Mizanur Rahman, superintendent of Sunamganj Police, confirmed the arrest. Earlier on December 26, members of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) arrested Abdur Rashid, 27, helper of the bus, from Boraigaon area under Gobindaganj of Sunamganj. A college student was injured after jumping off a moving bus to escape an attempted rape Sunamganj on December 26.
