Belong, Telstra’s lower-cost telco, has placed its media account account out to pitch.
A Telstra spokesperson told Mumbrella: “We can confirm that Belong currently has a pitch for media underway. Given this is a live process it would be inappropriate for us to comment further at this stage.”
The account currently sits with OMD. Mumbrella has contacted the agency for comment on whether it will be defending the account. OMD also holds the master media account for Telstra.
On the creative side, Belong assigned Clemenger BBDO Melbourne to its creative account in 2017 and produced the ‘Together We’re Different’ campaign. Last year, the brand asked consumers to consider their carbon thumbprint in a campaign from Deloitte Digital.
Edelman expands leadership team with hires from Starbucks and Microsoft

Edelman has expanded its Australian leadership team, naming Natasha Brack as head of technology and Danny Cowan as director – corporate.
Cowan is returning to the agency after four years leading corporate affairs initiatives for Starbucks across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He led a multi-national team across more than 43 countries, focused on communications strategy and integration across media, government, customer, employee, investor, and other stakeholder audiences.

Meanwhile, Brack joins from Microsoft, where she served as consumer communications and marketing lead for Australia. She was with the business for more than five years and prior to that held roles at Quicksilver and Activision. Having held regional roles, Brack’s experience spans Australia and New Zealand, Japan and South East Asia.

Compare the Market has a new recruit now that Aleksandr the meerkat believes it’s time to bring his heir, Oleg into the family business.
The new campaign follows Aleksandr’s tour of business’ headquarters, making his first stop at the ‘Machine that goes bing’ to highlight the six million Australians that have used Compare the Market to get better deals on their insurance.
The campaign comes from VCCP and will be running across out of home, radio, online, video and social media.

CHE Proximity has added three new staff members to its ranks and promoted Jess Coulson to managing partner.
Coulson has been with the agency for four years and steps up from her position as client partner, and is a member of the leadership team on the Telstra account. Joining her are Tash Johnston as head of strategic production, Patrycja Lukjanow as creative director and Grace Vizor as group account director.

Vizor is joining from Leo Burnett to take up the lead on the Samsung account. In her time at Leos, Vizor led the Suncorp Bank and Insurance businesses. Her experience covers Sid Lee in Amsterdam and Adam&Eve DDB in London. Vizor’s appointment at CHE Proximity marks her return to the Clemenger Group, where she started her career.

Sebastian Rennie is returning to the CIO position in Australia and New Zealand after spending three years in the role for GroupM Canada. Rennie will take up the local post in June.

The appointment of Rennie comes just days after MediaCom CEO Willie Pang was made managing director of GroupM services, taking the lead on the group’s global digital transformation strategy. In his place Yaron Farizon, currently CEO of MediaCom Russia and MediaCom Connections Israel, will become CEO of MediaCom AUNZ – also commencing his role on 1 June. Meanwhile, the hunt for a new CEO of GroupM for Australia and New Zealand is still on, following the departure of Mark Lollback in March.
