The UNOPS handed over the first batch of 40 essential High-flow Oxygen machines and 100 Syringe Pumps for use in COVID-19 Treatment Centres at the Health Ministry earlier this month. The equipment is part of the World Bank’s emergency procurement support to COVID-19 response projects valued at over US$ 6.4 million.The total amount of oxygen related COVID-19 equipment under the project is estimated to be over US$ 2 million. The event was attended by the Minister of Health, Pavithra Wanniarachchi, World Bank Project Director Dr. Jayasundara Bandara, senior officials from the Ministry of Health including the Deputy Director-general, Department of Biomedicine and Medical Supplies Janapriya Karunatilake and Sudhir Muralidharan, UNOPS Country Manager Sri Lanka and Maldives.

KOICA provides USD 260,000 for healthcare Daily News (via HT Media Ltd.)
The Health Ministry together with the Government of the Republic of Korea through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and UNOPS provided funds for medical equipment and supplies including PPEs and medical gas worth USD 260,000 to the Korea Sri Lanka Friendship Hospital in Matara recently.
Health Ministry Senior Officials including the Deputy Director General Planning, and the Matara General Hospital Deputy Director participated in the ceremony in this regard.
The Maternal and Newborn Healthcare Strengthening Project is building a modern building replacing the old one at the Korea Sri Lanka Friendship Hospital. The project was making headway until the hospital was declared a COVID-19 Treatment Centre and was partially handed over on the same day.
