LISBON A Columbiana area man who physically assaulted a good samaritan and took a power saw to his pickup truck, was sentenced to 20 months in prison Thursday by Common Pleas Judge Scott Washam.
Ross Chaplow, 39, of West Park Avenue, said he was truly sorry and was not a violent person. He claimed it was the LSD and crystal meth that caused him to act the way he did.
Instead of the 20-month sentence being requested by Assistant Columbiana County Prosecutor Alec Beech, Chaplow and his defense attorney Chris Amato were asking for help through an inpatient drug addiction facility.

LISBON An East Liverpool woman who stole from an elderly couple she was caring for was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
Lisa Ann Keener, Price Street, East Liverpool, was sentenced Thursday by Common Pleas Court Judge Scott Washam for theft from a person in a protected class, identity fraud, receiving stolen property, three counts of theft and four counts of forgery.
Chief Assistant County Prosecutor Ryan Weikart said these were serious offenses committed by a woman Sandra and Ron Shultz were trusting to help take care of them. Instead she helped herself to a diamond ring, credit cards, cash and checks. She opened credit cards using their identity and Weikart said the couple is still determining how much they owe in debts and trying to recover financially.

LISBON An East Liverpool man was sentenced to five years in prison for a shooting incident in October 2018.
William E. “Bill” Show, 40, Royal Lane, East Liverpool, was sentenced to four years in prison on charges of felonious assault and improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation or a school safety zone. He received one-year consecutive sentence for the firearm specification, which is mandatory.
Speaking before Judge Scott Washam before sentencing, Show said Christopher Craft ran up on his brother and pulled a weapon. Washam questioned Show’s version stating evidence showed it was Show and his brother who came up with weapons.
