Salem woman gets community control for stabbing husband | News, Sports, Jobs

DEANNE JOHNSON LISBON – A Salem woman who stabbed her husband more than a year ago was placed on four years community control in Common Pleas Court on Friday. Jennifer Hepfner, now known as Jennifer Hunt, 27, Washington Street, Salem, told Judge Scott Washam she was so intoxicated on Jan. 2, 2020, that she did not remember what happened that day. Her defense attorney, Larry Stacey, as well as her husband and her father spoke prior to her sentencing on charges of felonious assault and endangering children. Her husband, Kyle Hunt, told the court his wife was not alone in the blame for what happened that day and both he and her father talked about their support for her continued sobriety.

djohnson@mojonews.com LISBON An East Liverpool man who shot another man in the parking lot following a fight at a city bar was sentenced to two years in prison on Friday. DaNeil U. Prentice, 29, Beaver Street, previously pleaded guilty to felonious assault, a second degree felony, for shooting Joseph Desarro in the lower back near his hip on April 20, 2019. The crime carried a possible maximum sentence of eight to 12 years. Assistant County Prosecutor Tammie Riley Jones was asking for a two-year sentence. Desarro’s mother spoke at length prior to sentencing, telling Judge Scott Washam about the night she received the call from her son’s wife telling her to come to the hospital because he had been shot.
