Sign Up A new innovation and investment forum for the Highlands and Islands is to be held by the Institute of Directors Scotland next month. Willie Watt, chairman of the Scottish National Investment Bank, will be the keynote speaker at the two-day online event. Taking place on June 8 and 9, it will include sessions led by representatives from key high growth sectors, showcase success stories from the region and offer delegates access to industry bodies and investors.

USU Joins Global Partnership To Help Improve World s Food Supply

Utah State University and a governmental research arm based in Scotland recently formed a partnership to collaborate on research in environmental and agricultural science. USU President Noelle Cockett and Colin Campbell, chief executive of the James Hutton Institute signed a memorandum of understanding in April. Cockett said the global partnership will lead to a more sustainable future by improving the world’s food supply.   Ian Houston is the president and Washington D.C. ambassador of the Scottish Business Network. He said the agreement between the university and the Hutton Institute “reinforces” the school’s role in research in the areas of land, water, and air quality. He said USU’s department of plant, soils, and climate have already worked to address these research areas and the agreement will expand those opportunities.

Utah State University A PARTNERSHIP agreement has been signed between Scotland s James Hutton Institute and Utah State University in the United States, promoting cooperation in agricultural and environmental research, with particular emphasis on climate change issues. The agreement was signed by chief executive of the James Hutton Institute, Professor Colin Campbell, and USU president Noelle E. Cockett during an online meeting held to mark the occasion. Established in 1888, Utah State University is one of the foremost institutions working on environmental issues in the US and the world. Its engineers, hydrologists, agronomists, sociologists and climate scientists work on projects in Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.
