There’s a new limited-edition toro from Diesel coming out called Crucible, the third and final installment of the brand’s “Elixir trilogy.” Retailers can begin to expect receiving shipments of the new smoke early next week, starting on April 26.
Produced in collaboration with A.J. Fernandez and Justin Andrews, senior brand manager at Scandinavian Tobacco Group, Diesel Crucible is a follow-up to Diesel Hair of the Dog and Delirium, limited-edition releases that are part of the “Elixir trilogy.”
Made at the Tabacalera A.J. Fernandez factory in Estelí, the cigar measures 6 inches by 52 ring gauge and has a suggested retail price of $9.99 each. It is rolled with an aged Ecuador Habano wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and fillers from Honduras and Nicaragua. According to the company, the cigar is full-bodied.
Diesel Crucible Shipping Next Week
On Monday, Forged Cigar Co. will begin shipping the Diesel Crucible, the final in what the company is now calling the Elixir trilogy.
It is a 6 x 52 toro that uses an Ecuadorian habano wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and fillers from Honduras and Nicaragua. Like other Diesel cigars, it is being made at Tabacalera AJ Fernandez Cigars de Nicaragua S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua.
MSRP is set at $9.99 and it is limited to 3,000 boxes of 10 cigars.
There is a previous Diesel Crucible release from 2012. That cigar was a slightly different size 6 1/2 inches long and used a Honduran binder.
Forged Cigar Co. has announced its second new release for La Gloria Cubana: Medio Tiempo.
The new La Gloria Cubana Medio Tiempo is a regular production line that uses an Ecuadorian sumatran wrapper over a Connecticut broadleaf binder and filler tobaccos from four different areas: the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Nicaragua and Connecticut. The Connecticut tobacco is the one where the cigar gets its name from, it’s a Connecticut habano varietal that is classified as medio tiempo.
Medio tiempo is a priming of tobacco the way a plant is divided into sections vertically that is found above the ligero priming, typically the highest priming. It’s only found on certain plans and only some growers go through the effort of classifying it separately from ligero. Given its position on the plant, medio tiempo should be the strongest tobacco found on the plants where it grows. Small Batch Traders B.V. Launches as New Distributor in The Netherlands
De Los Reyes Cigars, Debonaire House, Tabacalera Palma and CigarKings will all be distributed by Small Batch Traders B.V. in the Netherlands.
Small Batch Traders B.V. is the new Dutch distribution company from Stijn Elbersen, which plans on beginning distribution later this month. Elbersen most recently served as the director of international sales and marketing for Scandinavian Tobacco Group and has been working in the premium cigar space since 2005 when he joined Habanos Benelux.
