Schmitz Park Elementary, you may know
Marilyn Mears, who retired recently. And you may be able to help with this effort to celebrate her years of work – here’s the announcement:
One of our beloved West Seattle elementary school teachers,
Marilyn Mears, has recently retired and we would love to complete a book of pictures, memories and well wishes to celebrate this milestone. We are looking for submissions from current and previous students and families of

Hooray Mr. Parsley! He has worked tirelessly to bring PBL learning to K-STEM for all students, regardless of their backgrounds, means or prior experience in STEM. We would not be the school we are without his efforts. Thank you so much!

Congratulations Mr. Parsley! You have had such an amazing impact our whole family but especially our 8th grader! You deserve this honor and so much more. For the past 9 years it has been so inspiring to watch you work with our students. Your passion and love for these kids is unparalleled.
Seattle Public Schools has just announced that he’s being transferred to
Thornton Creek Elementary in North Seattle after the school year ends, and assistant principal
Liz Dunn will succeed him. Here’s the letter Kischner sent to the school community:
Dear Genesee Hill Families and Community,
I’m writing today to share some news that may come as a surprise to many of you. On July 1st, I will be transferring to be Principal of Thornton Creek Elementary. While I am very sad to be leaving the community that I have been privileged to serve for thirteen years – time for a full generation of students from Kindergarten to graduation I am also thrilled to announce that Liz Dunn has been tapped to replace me as Principal of Genesee Hill.

It was such a great night! A few of us current teachers met a former teacher from 1956! She was amazing! We talked to her and her sister almost the whole evening! She even showed us some pictures of her teaching!

It must have been a crazy good night for you to be standing on the ceiling! ;) (just kidding, glad it was fun)

Sorry on behalf of our system that the photo is flipped. I’ll fix it when I can. Funny thing is that when I first saw that comment while viewing on my phone, it was right side up. Photos from commenters go into a different system than photos we upload but I should still be able to download it, flip it, and reupload it when back at HQ.
