(WIS) - The Department of Public Safety announced a partnership with the Department of Transportation that will allow for an increase in highway patrol officers, new patrol vehicles, and law enforcement technology ahead of the busy Fourth of July holiday weekend. The period from Memorial Day to Labor Day is what the department calls the “100 Deadly Days of Summer” where there is a spike in travel and in fatal traffic accidents. During the 2020 Fourth of July weekend, the department reports 11 deaths in the state.

York County, SC A North Carolina motorcycle driver was killed Sunday night in a York County crash west of Clover, officials said. Enoch Bristol, 47, of Gastonia, N.C., died at the scene, said York County Coroner Sabrina Gast. The single-vehicle wreck happened around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Piedmont Road and Forest View Road near Kings Mountain National Military Park, said Master Trooper Gary Miller of the S.C. Highway Patrol. The area is south of the North Carolina line. The motorcycle went off the side of the road at the intersection and hit a tree stump, Miller said. Bristol died at the scene.

(WBTV) - Three people were killed, including two children, Tuesday in a crash on one of York County’s busiest roads, officials said. York County Coroner Sabrina Gast identified the three victims Wednesday morning as 29-year-old Cole Labrozzi, who was reportedly driving the car, and two passengers in the car, 8-year-old Kaydence Timmons and 7-year-old Justin Whitener. Gast confirmed the children were siblings.
