Recall Expanded For Medically Minded Hand Sanitizer
WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Las Vegas, Nevada-based Global Sanitizers has expended its recall of Medically Minded Hand Sanitizer citing the presence of undeclared methanol, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said.
The recall now includes 8 oz. Sanitizers with UPC 676753004208; Lot E332020, Lot E212020, and Lot E082020; 8.5 oz. sanitizers with UPC 676753004147; Lot E372020; as well as 10 oz. sanitizers with UPC 676753004178 Lot GV4420205. All these lots have Best By Date of 5/21/2022, and the company began shipping these products on approximately July 10, 2020.
In early May, the company had called back 50 thousand units of Medically Minded hand sanitizers with lot numbers: E212020 & E082020 Best Buy of 5/21/2022 to the user/consumer level. These sanitizers were packaged in 8.5 oz / 250 ml clear bottles with caps with UPC 7675300359.

Methanol content, or associations therewith, are cited as the reasons for 12 of the 13 latest additions by FDA to its do not use hand sanitizer list.
This brings the total number of entries to 249 as of May 20, 2021. In addition, the administration issued one warning letter for a hand sanitizer disinfectant gel containing ~65% methanol that was detained at the U.S. border.
Products added to the FDA s list of product violations include:
Durisan Antimicrobial Solutions Hand Sanitizing Wipes, Alcohol-Free, by Sanit Technologies LLC, doing business as Durisan (Florida) for product testing that revealed microbial contamination. The product was recalled in March 2021 and this recall was expanded on May 14, 2021.

Scentsational Soaps & Candles Expands Recall Of Scented Hand Sanitizers
WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Scentsational Soaps & Candles Inc. have expanded recall of scented hand sanitizers to include three lots of Goose Creek hand sanitizer and one lot of Coco TKO hand sanitizer.
The company said it has recalled the products based on a testing that revealed the presence of methanol, benzene, and acetaldehyde. These products were sold online and distributed in the U.S. by Goose Creek Candles and Coconut Stand.
Substantial methanol exposure can result in nausea, vomiting, headache, blurred vision, permanent blindness, seizures, coma, permanent damage to the nervous system, or death. Young children who accidentally ingest the products and adolescents and adults who drink the products as an alcohol substitute are most at risk for methanol poisoning.
