Paige Blake, who is pregnant, was driving on the A414 dual carriageway near Hatfield House, Hatfield, on 20 April 2020 when her Ford Fiesta hit Freddie Oborne s bike. Mr Oborne, 80, from Hertford, died at the scene. Blake, 24, of Longwood Road, Hertford, pleaded guilty at St Albans Crown Court to causing death by dangerous driving. Mr Oborne, a keen athlete who competed in cycling events and triathlons, had two daughters, a son and seven grandchildren.

Police pursue van towing trailer stolen from Chorleywood area

Police pursued a van towing a stolen trailer Hertfordshire Police chased a van along a busy motorway and across the border after it was spotted towing a horse trailer reported as stolen. The county’s police force says the trailer was stolen from an address in the Chorleywood area at around 6.15pm on Thursday, April 8. Seven minutes after the call came into police, officer PC Radu Vernica saw the trailer being towed by a van travelling anti-clockwise on the M25, near to junction 17. With support from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, they pursued the van and trailer across the border into Buckinghamshire.
