Memories can t burn - Fire-hit Droitwich school s heartfelt thanks to supporters

THANKS: Duncan Kennedy, chair of governors of St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, has thanked people for their support after a fire THE governors of a school hit by a devastating fire last month has thanked people who rallied round to help. Thousands have been raised for St Joseph’s Primary School which was hit by the fire in the early hours of January 25. Herefordshire and Worcestershire Fire Service were called to the school at 1.45am that morning and used water jets and compressed air foam to extinguish the fire which led to one part of the building - the building closest to the Westacre Middle School - being heavily damaged.

Praising teachers It s no secret that teachers and education staff have worked tirelessly to adapt and overcome the challenges of working during the pandemic and trying to minimise the impacts of lockdown on children s learning. Messages of praise have been flooding in for teachers and schools from families across Cumbria thanking them for all their support during the pandemic. We asked families on the News & Star/The Cumberland News Facebook page if they had any schools or teachers they wanted to thank for their support during the pandemic. We were inundated with messages for the wonderful work of school staff with people commenting that every staff member was worthy of praise for all they have managed to achieve in such difficult circumstances.

They ve really been amazing and I can t give enough praise. Thanks GHPS. Faye Winfield: Year 1 and year 5 have been amazing, very supportive of the kids and parents. The teachers have worked tirelessly to ensure all are well catered for through zoom calls, live lessons, cooking tasks, model building, fun PE sessions etc all work has been marked by the teachers and feedback given with support when needed.
