Schools helping in getting everyone tested for covid

Coronavirus testing ALL schools in Bolton are giving out PCR covid tests to families as part of the surge testing taking place. The more reliable tests are being handed to children who can collect additional test kits for family members in a bid to contain the rising infection rate. Until now, only secondary school children tested themselves for the virus along with school staff. Now all schools are rolling out the surge testing, urging their pupils and families to take the test. It comes as more and more school bubbles are closing. Schools which have pupils self-isolating following a positive covid test, include Turton School in Bromley Cross, Kings Leadership in Great Lever, St Peter s CE Smithills Dean and St Bede s Academy.

Eco-pupils secure bins from Bolton Council for plastic pollution drive

PUPILS have turned their focus to recycling during National Science Week. This year their theme was “Plastic Not So Fantastic” to support an interest in helping animals by lowering plastic pollution. St Bede s Academy joined the Cornish Plastic Pollution Coalition to provide an exciting week full of activities, investigations and experiments. St Bede’s school council lead teachers, Miss Greenhalgh and Miss Gillard, said: “All the children of St Bede were so inspired and continued to discuss ways to help lower plastic pollution. “The children and staff were extremely passionate about helping to save the planet, and help with the mission to save the animals who are at risk due to the volume of plastic pollution ending up in our seas and rivers.
