2 teens shot by Stanislaus deputies after lengthy pursuit © KCRA shooting scene A 17-year-old was critically wounded after he and another teenager were shot by deputies in Stanislaus County following a lengthy pursuit that took them through the heart of downtown Modesto. The events leading to the deputy shooting started with a traffic stop of a vehicle near Torrid Avenue and North Carpenter Road in Modesto, the Stanislaus County Sheriff s Office said in a release. What deputies said they didn t know then was that the vehicle was occupied entirely by five teens.Sign up for our Newsletters The driver, a 17-year-old boy, did not comply and instead fled from deputies, prompting a chase that would go farther than seven miles throughout the city of Modesto and nearby county streets, the sheriff s office said. Deputies, along with officers from the Modesto Police Department, tried stopping the vehicle with a ram maneuver, but it did not stop the teens.

(Credit: Turlock Police Department) Turlock police say they’ve been focusing their efforts on at the Monte Vista Crossings area. People have been reporting speeding, destruction of property, illegal fireworks, and overall neglect from the sideshows that have been taking place there. Officers have since issued a total of 184 tickets and towed 10 vehicles over the past two weeks. Some 15 other vehicles were also sent to the state referee for alleged emissions modifications that need to be checked.

Arrest made after man s body found in California Aqueduct

The Stanislaus County Sheriff s Office said in a Facebook post they have arrested a man on Wednesday in connection with a body recovered from an aqueduct.  The arrest comes roughly 24 hours after the body of 62-year-old Patterson resident Anthony “Tony” Pistoia was found in the California Aqueduct on Tuesday, May 11. Pistoia was allegedly killed by his roommate, Stanislaus County detectives said in the press release. Juan Ramon Haro Ortega, 33, of Patterson, was arrested and is currently being held without bail at the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center. He is awaiting arraignment for homicide, assault and Immigration and Naturalization Service hold charges. Ortega is originally from Mexico, according to his arrest record.
