A GREENOCK woman who is waiting for a heart transplant hopes a change in the law will save her life. Emma Carney has welcomed the hugely significant decision to move to an opt-out system for organ donations in Scotland. The 37-year-old, who suffers from a life-threatening heart condition and nearly died last year, was placed on the transplant list almost five months ago. Emma, of Fife Road, said: I think the opt-out system is a really positive step. It could make a huge difference to me and others like me. I want to do all I can to raise awareness of the desperate need for organ donors.
