Millions have faced financial worries in the last year
Millions of pension savers have seen their later life prospects derailed by the pandemic, exacerbating a growing inequality among people in their 50s and 60s.
Over 1.4 million people will be forced to delay the end of their working lives by an average of three years as a result of financial setbacks caused by the crisis, according to a report by Legal & General, an insurance firm.
A total of 2.6 million people are expected to have to continue working indefinitely to make up for the lost earnings.
Meanwhile, many have been forced into ending their careers before they can afford to, with an estimated 1.3 million workers expected to take their leave sooner than planned.
