ALBANY TOWNSHIP An Albany woman was cited for illegal burning after a fire pit accident started a grass fire, according to the Stearns County Sheriff s Office.
About 12:41 p.m. Saturday, the sheriff s office was notified of a grass fire in the 20100 block of Stearns County Road 156. A caller said a pasture was on fire, with flames moving quickly towards homes.
A nearby homeowner, Kasy Jensen, 41, had started a fire in a firepit while cooking maple syrup, according to the sheriff s office. Due to the wind at the time of incident, the neighboring field and swamp caught fire and she was unable to extinguish it with a water hose that she had nearby.

(KNSI) A 41-year-old Albany woman was cited Saturday after the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says she started a grass fire in a pasture behind her home.
According to the sheriff’s office, they were called to a grass fire in a pasture on County Road 156 about 12:40 p.m. The caller said the fire was moving quickly toward neighboring houses. Albany and Avon Fire Departments were sent to the scene. They got the fire under control and fully out before any homes or buildings were damaged.
The homeowner, Kasy Jensen, said she started a fire in a firepit while cooking maple syrup. It was windy at the time, and a neighboring field and swamp caught fire. She said she was unable to put the fire out with a hose that she kept nearby.

A woman who was cooking maple syrup over a fire in Stearns County has been cited after a nearby field and swamp caught fire.
The grass fire was reported at 12:41 p.m. on Saturday, April 3, on the 20100 block of County Road 156 in Albany Township, with the caller saying a pasture was on fire and moving toward nearby homes, the Stearns County Sheriff s Office said in an April 6 news release.
Officials determined the 41-year-old homeowner had started a fire in a fire pit to cook maple syrup. But wind caused the fire to escape, catching a nearby field and swamp on fire.

The Stearns County Sheriff s Office says crews were dispatched to the 20100 block of County Road 156 in Albany Township at about 12:40 p.m. The caller said a pasture was on fire and moving quickly toward nearby homes.
Firefighters were able to put out the flames before any property was damaged.
The sheriff s office says the homeowner,
Kasy Jensen, had started a fire in a fire pit to cook maple syrup. The wind then caused embers to start the grass on fire.
Jensen tried to use a nearby garden hose but couldn t contain the flames.
