Times staff report ALBANY TOWNSHIP  An Albany woman was cited for illegal burning after a fire pit accident started a grass fire, according to the Stearns County Sheriff s Office.  About 12:41 p.m. Saturday, the sheriff s office was notified of a grass fire in the 20100 block of Stearns County Road 156. A caller said a pasture was on fire, with flames moving quickly towards homes. A nearby homeowner, Kasy Jensen, 41, had started a fire in a firepit while cooking maple syrup, according to the sheriff s office. Due to the wind at the time of incident, the neighboring field and swamp caught fire and she was unable to extinguish it with a water hose that she had nearby.

According to the sheriff’s office, they were called to a grass fire in a pasture on County Road 156 about 12:40 p.m. The caller said the fire was moving quickly toward neighboring houses. Albany and Avon Fire Departments were sent to the scene. They got the fire under control and fully out before any homes or buildings were damaged. The homeowner, Kasy Jensen, said she started a fire in a firepit while cooking maple syrup. It was windy at the time, and a neighboring field and swamp caught fire. She said she was unable to put the fire out with a hose that she kept nearby.
