FIREFIGHTERS rescued an owl from a chimney this morning (May 2). A fire engine from Cheddar and a rescue tender from Glastonbury attended the incident in Stone Allerton, near Cheddar, at around 10.30am. The crews received a call from the RSPCA who requested assistance. On arrival crews assessed the situation and requested a flexi camera to help with the rescue, said a spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue. Crews used a 13 metre ladder, a roof ladder, safety at height equipment, small tools and chimney rods to try and rescue the owl. The flexi camera was used to guide the equipment and Terry the Tawny owl was located trapped behind the flue.
