2 taken to hospital from crash on Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. A crash sent two people to the hospital and all lanes of the approach to the upper level of the Staten Island-bound Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge are blocked during the emergency response on Wednesday morning.
The incident was reported at about 9:50 a.m. at 92nd Street and the Gowanus Expressway on the approach to the bridge.
Two people were transported to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze and a third person refused medical attention, according to a spokesman for the FDNY/EMS.
The lower level remains open, according to the MTA alert posted shortly before 10 a.m.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Seung Choi, the 86-year-old man who died five days after being struck by a vehicle in Stapleton, was a Korean immigrant who settled on Staten Island and was part of a “loving family,” his son and his granddaughter told the Advance/SILive.com.
Seung Choi, a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance, was returning home after walking to his sister-in-law’s residence on Jan. 13 to deliver supplies to support an overseas mission when he was struck by a car while crossing Canal Street at the intersection of Bay Street, said police and the man’s family.
