STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. A coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak within Staten Island University Hospital’s South Campus has forced administrators to temporarily shut down a department, while relocating its psychiatric patients to other facilities within the Northwell Health System.
“Recently, a number of patients tested positive for COVID-19 in our inpatient psychiatric unit at the South Site,” SIUH spokesman Christian Preston confirmed in a statement Wednesday.
