It’s starting to dry up outside with the warmer weather and that means it is once again wildfire season in Strathcona County.
Fire marshall Rod Kuhn said it has been a busy start to the season already with 14 brush or outdoor fires reported since April 1.

“We are seeing it is trending up a little bit,” explained Kuhn. “In the springtime with the dry grass, we do more instances of grass fires until the rain hits. We haven’t had anything too severe but we have had a couple that has required a bit more resources for them but all have been handled by our firefighting crews.”
