George Herbert: What if I said there was a better way to get rid of the last barrier that videoconferencing gives us limited control over the quality of video and audio that we have? I think there is a better way, and this is exactly what we ve been doing here at Epiphan for our own internal content creation for just about a year. Now, I introduced and propose using SRT for this type of higher-quality transport.
For those not familiar, SRT stands for Secure Reliable Transport. It s a protocol created by Haivision and designed to be low-latency, pretty network- and firewall-friendly, and most of all secure, because it does offer encryption, and the possibility of using the internet we use every day and using lower-cost products and easier cost of entry to replace the older, traditional satellite truck.

Eric Schumacher-Rasmussen: So, if you were launching a FAST channel right now, what sort of criteria do you think you would have to meet in order to get to the point where a FAST channel was launch-worthy, so to speak?
Andrew Tint: I would think there are two things. One, you d have to focus on the device relationships. That market in itself is so fragmented with the Roku, Amazon, Samsung, Vizio, and Sony, and it s going to be really hard to get marketshare when you are on only one or two devices. So that that s gotta be one of the most important things. And the second is, what s different, what s niche? Look at some of these apps today. Like we noted, there are the Samsung Pluses, and the Plutos, and the Xumos, and Tubi, and they have a lot of content, and they share a lot of content too, which is important. Mark Alamares: We work with a lot of influencers, whether, you know, streamers on YouTube or TikTokers and so forth, and they have their built-in audiences. The productions that we are involved in do encompass the higher end productions, but also, because of the audience base specifically for online influencers, they sometimes go towards a direction of more of a lo-fi experience because they want to retain the authenticity and their connection with the audience.
