SNJ best takeaway contestants: Felt Café | Stroud News and Journal

Over the last fortnight our readers have been nominating the top 10 takeaways in Stroud, and for the next week we’ll be profiling each of them so you can choose the Stroud News & Journal Best Takeaway 2021 winner. Felt Café is the fourth business we are profiling this week, which opened as a takeaway last year. It has been owned by Claire Brody since 2019, who said the pandemic has been a rollercoaster for her business, with different restrictions demanding repeated changes to her business model. She settled on takeaways in May, selling bagels, cakes, crepes, hot and cold drinks and daily specials, as well as a Friday evening tapas takeout once a month.

Choose the best Stroud takeaway in News and Journal competition

What is the best takeaway in Stroud? We re launching a competition to find out, and you have until February 15 to nominate your favourite via this link. More and more choice is available this year, as businesses like the Little Ginger Café and Deli or the Stirrup Cup have diversified to offer takeaway, to beat Covid restrictions on sales. Whether it’s Fat Toni’s pizza, Old Fleece roasts or Simply Fish and Chips, takeaway food has been a ray of sunshine for many people at the end of another week in lockdown. Once we receive all the nominations, we will announce the 10 businesses with the most and you can vote between them to crown the Stroud News & Journal Best Takeaway 2021 winner.

15-year-old starts art career in new Sourced in Stonehouse

A talented 15-year-old artist is already making sales at a new Stroud District shop, Sourced in Stonehouse. Keeley Bingham-Roberts, who studies art at Maidenhill School, has sold seven prints of artwork, ranging from steampunk and watercolour birds to photo-realistic pieces. “I’ve always liked doing art since primary school. In secondary school I realised I wanted to make a future out of it,” said Keeley, who lives in King’s Stanley. “It just makes me happy and I like seeing what I can do with it, and express myself with it.” Sourced in Stonehouse was created to give crafters a platform to sell their products after 2020 saw an end to the craft fayre.
