Spartanburg County Sheriff s Office investigators are working to determine what caused a fire Monday night at The Grove apartment complex that displaced 39 residents living there.
Firefighters responded at 6:20 p.m. Monday for a reported fire at the complex on Aspen Creek Circle near Highway 29. Tracy Williams, Westview-Fairforest Fire Department assistant chief, said when firefighters arrived there was a fire in two apartments.
Williams said two firefighters were injured when a ceiling collapsed while they were fighting the blaze. Their injuries were minor and they were treated and released, he said.
Preliminary reports show the fire may have started on a deck at one of the apartment units. Williams said the Sheriff s Office continues to investigate the cause of the fire. None of the residents were injured.
