Timothy Houser, of Lincolnton, North Carolina, made a forced landing at about 3 p.m. in a field about five miles north of Spartanburg at a construction site off Cannons Campground Road. Houser walked away with a few minor scrapes on his face.
Houser told deputies with the Spartanburg County Sheriff s Office he lost power while in the air and decided to make an emergency landing.
Maria Njoku, FAA Media Relations Southern Region spokeswoman, said Tuesday the FAA s investigation includes determining where the plane took off and where it was scheduled to land.
