The Springfield Fire Department and IAFF Local 152 are helping vaccinate people against the coronavirus.
Firefighters will help the Springfield-Greene County Health Department bring the vaccine to as many people as possible.

The Springfield Fire Department and IAFF Local 152 are partnering with the Springfield-Greene County Health Department to bring the COVID-19 vaccine to as many Springfield-Greene County residents as possible.
Springfield firefighters who are licensed emergency medical technicians (EMTs) will serve as volunteer vaccinators at several upcoming vaccine events, including ones at the Library Center, Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park and the Fire Department’s second Fire Station Fun Day and Vaccine Clinic 1-5 p.m. Friday, June 4 at Fire Station 8, 1405 S. Those in the Springfield area looking to get the COVID-19 vaccine this week have several options. The Springfield-Greene County health Department put a list on its website of times and locations individuals who want a vaccine can get one, which can be seen below:

Springfield’s Birthplace of Route 66 Festival is back for 2021.
The 2020 festival had to be canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
This year’s free event will take place August 13 and 14 in Springfield.

After having to cancel the 2020 Birthplace of Route 66 Festival due to the pandemic, festival organizers the City of Springfield, Aaron Sachs & Associates, KY3/KSPR/CW, Downtown Springfield Association and West Central Neighborhood Alliance are thrilled to announce that the festival is BACK ON IN 2021!
The festival will take place Aug. 13 and 14, barring any major negative developments in local COVID-19 case counts and assuming significant continued vaccination progress.
