HAMPDEN Detective Scott Trombly has changed his title to police chief after being sworn in Wednesday morning.
Friends, family, members of the community as well as the greater policing community gathered on the front lawn of the Hampden Police Department to witness the ceremony.
Trombly replaces longtime Police Chief Jeff Farnsworth, who resigned Dec. 17. Following Farnsworth’s resignation, retired Longmeadow Police Chief Richard Marchese was named interim chief while the Select Board searched for a permanent replacement.

WARE Not only are Jason and Shannon Green a “match made in heaven” with two beautiful daughters, they’re one “wicked” business match, too.
The Greens, of Ware, are creators and owners of Jay’s Wicked Gourmet Sauce. Their company produces and markets over six different varieties of small batch gourmet barbecue and hot sauces. Ingredients are locally sourced, and they happily omit gluten ingredients and preservatives. All of their products’ packaging is sustainable.
“What makes our family business a success is that we both have separate sets of strengths and weaknesses,” Shannon Green says. “We make a really great team.”
From left, Golden Years principals Brian Santaniello, Mary Flahive-Dickson, and Cesar Ruiz Jr.
Cesar Ruiz Jr. describes the business plan for Golden Years Homecare Services as “a living, breathing document.”
That intriguing phrase was chosen to convey many things all at once especially movement, flexibility, seemingly constant change, and a certain ambitious tone.
Indeed, while every business plan is fluid and most are written in pencil figuratively speaking, anyway this one has been altered countless times since it was first drafted more than eight years ago, and the new lines on the page reflect why Ruiz, the company’s president, and the entire leadership team at this East Longmeadow-based venture have been named Top Entrepreneur for 2020 by BusinessWest.
